Advanced Excel Data Loader

The Advanced Excel Data Loader is an extension of the standard Excel data loader. It provides the ability to load data from Excel in multiple data file formats based on the template type.

The loading screen itself is identical to the standard Excel data loader (see Excel loading screen). The difference is in the mapping template options, which are explained in The Advanced Excel mapping template.

The following template types are supported:

Single-Project Workbook

Each Excel workbook represents a single PLAN project, as with the standard Excel Data Loader.

Single-Project Worksheet

Each worksheet in the Excel workbook contains data for a single PLAN project. Each worksheet must have the project data in the same layout.

Multi-Project Worksheet

  • Each Excel workbook contains data for multiple PLAN projects.
  • One or more worksheets in the Excel workbook contains data for multiple PLAN projects.
  • Each row of data must contain the project name and input period in same specified columns, with PLAN variables/properties mapped to one or more columns.
  • Each worksheet must have the project data in the same layout.

Single Variable Per Worksheet

  • Each Excel workbook contains data for multiple PLAN projects.
  • Project Data Worksheet contains all project properties/summary data for each project to be loaded.
  • Each other worksheet in the Excel workbook contains data for one PLAN variable.
  • Each worksheet contains periodic data for multiple PLAN projects.
  • Each worksheet must have the project names in the same column.
  • Project names listed on the Project Data Worksheet must have at least periodic data on one of the periodic data worksheets.
  • Project names on periodic data worksheets must be listed on the Project Data Worksheet.
  • Project names do not need to be in the same order as on the Project Data Worksheet, or indeed all be included, on each variable worksheet.

Single Row Project

  • One or more worksheets in the Excel workbook contains data for multiple PLAN projects.
  • Each row of data must contain all data related to a project on a single row, identified by the project name column.
